Boas impressões nos EUA

Após a temporada de estreia em Festivais nos EUA, com exibições no 28º Chicago Latino Film Festival, no 15º Cine Las Americas, em Austin (Texas), e no 34º Annual Latin American Film Series, na Universidade de Wisconsin, em Milwaukee, DIA DE PRETO ganhou uma série de resenhas positivas, como as destacadas a seguir.
  

Dennis Kriz (acima) destaca a qualidade técnica da obra,comparando: “both the sound and cinematography in the film were of the quality that make comparisons to Lars von Trier's Meloncholia [2011] or Terrence Malick's Tree of Life [2011] come to mind”, e estendendo os elogios para a trama e o estilo do filme: “The story was excellent and it was produced in a superbly chic, eye-popping manner that certainly catches attention”.

O “chicagoano” Sergio Barreto dá quatro estrelas para o filme e faz referência à mistura de gêneros e referências na obra: “Day of Black (Dia de Preto), the movie, is a wild mish-mash of  genres and influences (…) it references Once Upon a Time in the West, The Matrix and Dawn of the Dead as the tone shifts from action through mock-horror to absurdist comedy”.

Em Milwaukee, acima, destaque para a questão racial: “this film explores the continuing struggles for freedomfaced by Brazilians of African descent”; em Austin, os reviews se voltam para a trilha musical, “an outstanding soundtrack which was honored with Best Score by the Sunset International Film Festival”.
